Medicare Solutions

The coverage types I work through with you, and what each one asks you to weigh before you enroll.

Where to begin

Every Route Through Medicare, Taken One at a Time

Pick whichever of these is sitting on your mind today. Each one has its own trade offs, and what suits a neighbour may not suit you at all.

Medicare Advantage Plans

These plans come from private insurers and take over the job of Original Medicare, often folding in drug coverage and extra benefits. The trade is a network you are asked to stay inside, so the fit depends on where you already receive care.

  • Whether your clinics and specialists are in the network
  • What a full year could cost you at the high end
  • Which extra benefits you would genuinely use

Medicare Supplement Policies

A supplement policy sits behind Original Medicare and picks up a share of what you would otherwise pay yourself. Premiums are steady and predictable, and you keep the freedom to see any provider who accepts Medicare.

  • How much of your share the policy takes on
  • What the monthly premium looks like over time
  • How health questions may apply if you apply later

Prescription Drug Coverage

Drug plans each keep their own list of covered medicines and their own price tiers. Two plans can quote similar premiums and still leave you paying very different amounts at the pharmacy counter.

  • Whether every medicine you take is on the list
  • Which tier each one falls into and why
  • Which pharmacies the plan prices best

Yearly Reviews and Switching

Plans revise their costs, networks and drug lists on their own schedule, and the notice explaining it is easy to set aside. A short review each year keeps a quiet change from turning into a surprise bill.

  • What changed in your plan since you enrolled
  • Whether a different plan now fits you better
  • Which window you can move in and when it closes

Your Medicare Insurance, Step by Step

Sign Up for Original Medicare

Enrollment in Medicare itself runs through Social Security. I explain what to have on hand and when to file so nothing is late.

Add the Coverage You Need

Next you choose what goes beside it: a drug plan plus a supplement policy, or one Medicare Advantage plan that combines it all.

Review It Once a Year

Plans change their costs, networks and drug lists every year. I go over yours with you during open enrollment so it still fits.

What I Look At On Your Behalf

A plan looks tidy on a summary page. These are the places where the real differences hide, so this is where I spend my time.

Your Providers

Each doctor and clinic you named, checked against the plan directory rather than assumed.

Your Medicines

Your full list priced through each plan, including anything you take only now and then.

Your Yearly Ceiling

The most a plan could ask of you in a hard year, not simply the monthly figure on the front page.

Your Travel Habits

Whether care away from home is covered the way you would need it to be while you are gone.

Your Referral Rules

Whether seeing a specialist means a referral first, and how quickly that tends to move.

Your Timing

Which window you are in right now, what it allows, and what waiting would cost you later.

Tell Me Which Option You Are Weighing

Name the plan type you keep circling back to, or simply say you are not sure yet. Either one is a fine place for me to pick things up.

Worth knowing early

The Costs People Tend to Notice Last

Premiums get all the attention because they are printed largest. These quieter figures usually decide what your year actually feels like.

The amount you pay before coverage starts

Plans often ask you to cover a set amount yourself first. Two plans can look alike on premium and differ sharply here, which shows up the moment you need care.

Your share at each visit

Some plans charge a flat amount per visit, others a percentage of the bill. The second kind is harder to predict, especially for imaging and procedures.

The ceiling on a bad year

Knowing the most you could be asked to pay across a year is the single figure that tells you whether a plan is truly affordable for you.

Pharmacy pricing that shifts

Where you fill a prescription can change what you hand over. I look at the pharmacies near you rather than the plan average.
